My name is Sai-Amarisse Harris, and I have been dancing for nine years. I started my training at my home studio, Dancing Plus, and have been training there ever since. I am currently a student at Somerset Academy High School and have been a Varsity Somerset Pantherette for the past three years. Some of my most memorable dance experiences include being a junior apprentice and a teen true performer, a junior assistant for Intrigue, and a junior noble-prodigy at ADE. Being part of these opportunities has helped me grow as both a dancer and a person. Dance is the only thing that truly makes me feel like myself. It gives me a way to express feelings that I can’t always put into words. I am so grateful for the community it has created for me, including my friends and teachers. I would say I am most inspired by the people I share this passion with—my friends. Seeing them grow and develop their own unique styles inspires me the most. My parents have always told me to do what makes me the most passionate, and for me, that’s dance. They have shaped me into a hardworking and creative person. My mentors have also played a huge role in my journey, teaching me everything I know and helping me become not just the dancer I am today but also the person I am. I would love to continue progressing in dance throughout high school and pursue it in college. I decided to join The Âme Project because the dancers in it inspire me, and I know this will be an amazing experience for me to grow as both a dancer and a person. This project is very different from anything I’ve done before, and I hope to give people a new outlook on dance through this process. More than anything, I want to inspire those who watch. Outside of dance, I love bike riding and painting. I also enjoy doing hair, and school is my number one priority. I would like to thank my family for always being my biggest supporters in everything I do. I am also so grateful for my dance teachers, who continue to push me to be a better dancer and person. Most of all, I want to thank my best friends for being there for me every single day. Without them, none of this would be possible. I have built the most special relationships with them, and I wouldn’t trade them for the world. They have always supported me and made me feel loved. Dancing with them every day is something I will forever be grateful for, and I don’t just see them as friends—I see them as family.
