I have been dancing for 15 years and received training at Dance Works, and Dancing Plus. Some of my noteworthy credits include receiving a scholarship from the American Academy of Ballet for their summer intensive, receiving a Gold with Excellence and choreography scholarships from the B.A.R.R.E Exams, becoming a member of the National Honor Society for Dance Arts, and being made Vice President for the St. Thomas Aquinas Dance Company. What inspires me the most about the art of dance is that it allows you to be truly yourself with no restrictions while giving you a strong foundation and discipline. By having no boundaries to what you can express, there are no wrong answers but only learning opportunities. It also gives you the space to be completely vulnerable with yourself and others through movement which helps you become your own individual dancer. All of my past and present teachers and friends have shaped me into the dancer I am today. Each dancer has such a unique view of dance that naturally inspires you to try hard for them and grow. Also, growing up around such amazing people in a studio allows you to get inspired by many things. I watch my fellow dancers and get inspired by them and we all eventually inspire each other; creating a nurturing and free environment to dance in. As I can list many of the dream jobs I would love to have, I can only say this: in the future, I hope to accomplish many things in the professional world while always keeping my true passion for Dance. To not let certain titles or jobs make me lose sight of what dance truly means to me. So, my future goals as a dancer are to continue to grow and learn, but to keep the love and spirit I have for Dance the same. I decided to join the Âme Project because it is an opportunity to grow, create, dance, and make art. As dancers, we are constantly eager for new opportunities to dance and create. This project is the perfect combination where art, creativity, and passion meet and to talk about difficult topics and to make a statement through Dance. By being a part of the Âme Project, I hope to grow and to find my way even more as a dancer by discovering my individual style and impact that I want to have on people. I am also interested in music, film, fashion, and literature. I find myself always gravitating towards the more creative career choices and interests and I have always been so fascinated by them and hope to one day have a career in them. I would love to thank Mrs. Idy for this absolutely amazing opportunity and once in a lifetime experience. Thus far, we have not even began the first project and I already feel a huge shift in my life as far as thinking about the future and what it holds, my work ethic, and how I live my life.
